Surrounded by some of the most valued landmarks of the city, Al Seef Resort & Spa by Andalus is conveniently located on Abu Dhabi’s Eastern Ring road and is only twenty minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport. This five-star resort is an urban sanctuary situated in close proximity to the city’s most dynamic and cultural experiences. Hotel is located only 5 min drive away from Sheikh Zayed Mosque. The hotel is close to an excellent shopping center with various restaurants; kids play grounds and activities and super market to get your needs.

Service/Staff:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 9

Our check-in was handled very nicely by the Front Desk associate. The reception staff took time to explain the area to us and places to visit while staying in Abu Dhabi. The hotel has very helpful friendly staff, they always had a smile on their face and all took the time to ask how you are. The team, from the cleaners, to the pool staff, to the valets made sure that we were looked after well and had a great time at the hotel. it was our little one’s birthday on the day we were checking out. While leaving the hotel, they mentioned, they were supposed to come in our rooms for a little celebration with the cake and present for the little guy but had no idea we would be leaving early. Our little man was anyways happy to see the surprise present.

Rooms:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 9

We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa and the hotel rooms are spacious and very neat and clean, no smell of carpet or anything. We loved the way; they have personalized everything inside the room. From the carpet to the bath towel and even the backdrop behind the TV has their logo, the interior is just perfect. There was a media player in the room which was most enjoyed by our kids, they could plug in their I-pod and listen to their favorite tunes. The room totally gave us the feeling of being at home.

The kitchen design is also quite remarkable, the colors and arrangements were excellent. It had everything a family needs when away from home.

F&B Facilities:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):-9

Once you enter, the hotel will give you a feel of an ancient European town with adjacent low villas, with the marketplace, outdoor coffee shops, salons, grocery store and much more. It’s a small city on its own, away from the hustle and bustle of the town. And guess what, like every European town, it has an Indian restaurant as well.

The hotel is a community in itself where you can hang out with family, sit on the porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee and enjoy the poolside. There are also some restaurants and cafeterias inside the hotel, where you can enjoy dinner or late night coffee with cheesecake.

Attached with a mall that has a lot of restaurants and Carrefour also which make things easier.

We had our breakfast at the Bikers Café at Al Seef mall. It actually looked like a cool casual place to have lunch with the kids. The restaurant is nicely decorated and very funky.

Spa/Pool:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 9

“Outstanding” is the word for Pools at the hotel. Our rooms opened to the beautiful and welcoming swimming pool and the kids enjoyed every bit of it. The hotel has a great staff, fantastic pool layout with temperature controlled kids pool, adult lap pool and great huge hot tub for adults only.

Al Seef Resort and Spa has 4 large pools along, with the largest Jacuzzi in the UAE that can fit 20 people at one time. The pool area is the most people area of the hotel, surrounded by the sun lounges and Palm trees, it adds to the beauty of the property.

There is a small kid’s pool which is safe enough for kids of 4 and above. It was the first time, we could enjoy the sunbed and watch the children instead of jumping in with them, and sometimes you just want to chill.

There are Fitness Centers with Treadmill, elliptical, recumbent bike and free weights.

Activities:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8

Guests staying at Al Seef Resort & Spa by Andalus enjoy exclusive complimentary access to Abu Dhabi’s hidden gem, Happiness Island, located off the coast of Saadiyat. We were transported by high speed boat to an island where we spent our day. Our kids had a great time at the island enjoying a private beach as well as a very welcoming pool.

Luxembourg feel: – If you have been there, you know what we are talking about but if you haven’t, Luxembourg city has a street that is filled with colorful hanging umbrellas, an epic eye candy, and a perfect picture spot, we loved it when we were there. Here at Al Seef, you can get the similar feel; a sheet of red and white umbrellas enhances the appearance of the property.

img_1429

The hotel is connected to an excellent Community Mall, has all the amenities required to service the communities around. Great selection of food and cafe’s, a supermarket, kids wear, pharmacy, kids play area and more, abundant underground parking.

Hotel Review by Hozpitality:- Holiday Inn Express & Suites Vaudreuil-Dorion, Canada

We couldn’t have asked for a better stay while returning back from our tiring trip from Quebec and Montreal and on our way back to Toronto. The hotel is just a 40 minute drive to the center of the action in Montreal. We highly recommend this very crisp, clean and modern Holiday Inn Express. We stayed here to avoid the downtown traffic while returning to Toronto- what a great decision!

Location:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8

Only 25 minutes from Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport and less than 40 minutes from the bustling city of Montréal, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Vaudreuil-Dorion is conveniently located by the Trans-Canada Highway (40) and in proximity to the 30 and 20.

For the business traveller, several industrial parks such as Joseph Carrier with companies like Kraft, Ericsson, Winpak, Norampac (Cascades), Immunotec, Quadra, Canadian Helicopters, to only name a few , are just minutes from the hotel.

Our check-in was handled very nicely by the Front Desk associate. The reception staff took time to explain the area to us and places to visit while staying in Vaudreuil-Dorion. In the morning we had an opportunity to meet Michelle Elfassy, Director of Sales, who took time to take us around and show us the different rooms and facilities the hotel has to offer to its guests.

Rooms:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 9

The modern guest rooms featured laminated wooden floors, bamboo fiber mattress and independent A/C-heating units. There was a 42” flat screen TV, 9′ ceiling; luggage bench with storage drawers; mini-fridge and soft and firm pillows.

The rooms were spacious and very chic in design, having a very European style to them. The beds were very comfortable and provide a good night’s rest. We were a group of 3 adults and 2 kids and we managed to accommodate comfortably in the room with 2 queen beds and an extra sofa-bed.

The washroom was well lit, with a main light, a timer-controlled heat light, and LED lighting all around the perimeter of the large mirror. The shower/bathtub had one of those newer arched shower curtain rails that gives a person that little extra space in the shower.

F&B Facilities:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):-8

The eating area is large and spacious, and the food selection even includes a buffet-style service of scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage. Of course, the standard offerings of buns, toast, cereals, coffee/tea, juices, etc. are also available.

The dining room is huge and very bright, and there is even an “internet station” in the lobby, where 2 PCs are available for guest to use.

The hotel has 2 meeting rooms and free high speed wireless internet.

Spa/Pool:-

Sugar Shacks in Quebec, Sucrerie de la Montagne

On the third day of our trip, the Holiday Inn-hotel advised us to stop over at the Sugar Shack, they insisted that we should visit there and we would love this place, and to our surprise it was truly amazing, glad we did it. La Sucrerie de la Montagne is nestled in the forest of Rigaud. If you have a chance to stop by, if not for a full traditional Quebec meal, at least for a coffee, pancakes and homemade maple syrup or sugar pie. The site is authentically unique as is the owner, Mr. Pierre Faucher.

Our review of the place can be seen at https://vandanarajbhatt.com/2016/08/15/nestled-in-the-woods-you-shouldnt-miss-this-sugar-shack-while-driving-to-montreal/

There is a zoological park on your way to Montreal. It is the only zoo where you will find only animals indigenous to the Province of Québec living in a natural environment.  It is educational and fun for all ages. www.zooecomuseum.ca

There is also Arbraska Rigaud which offers adventures in the Forest for children 5 and older.  Activities and games from trees to trees!  www.arbraska.com

Hotel Review by Hozpitality:- Holiday Inn Montreal Centreville Downtown, Canada

If you would like to see best of Montreal on foot, stay in heart of the town!
We were lucky that we decided to stay at Holiday Inn Montreal Centreville Downtown which is certainly one of the best located hotels in Montreal. The 240 roomed hotel offers the best of two worlds, western comfort with a touch of the Orient. We were told that the Asian themed hotel was owned by Chinese government and was renovated in 2015. The hotel is designed with geomancy principles (Feng Shui), and we loved the built-in pond with carps and fish in the lobby. The hotel also has a parking garage on site with in/out privileges.

We were looking for the ideal hotel in downtown Montreal and the Holiday Inn Montreal CentreVille Downtown was the best choice. The hotel is a landmark offering easy access to historic, cultural and shopping attractions in the city. We loved the hotel’s location which is next to Chinatown and 1 block from Old Montreal’s attractions and shops. Holiday Inn Montreal CentreVille Downtown is across the street from the Palais des Congress-Convention Centre and Place d’Armes subway station, nearby businesses and 20 minutes from the airport. The hotel is walking distance from the waterfront and the famous Notre Dame Basillica right across the street.

We also met Louis –Philippe Lajoie, the hotel’s Director of Sales & Marketing who explained us about the facilities of the hotels and the areas nearby. He also gave us insights about the hotel’s history and background. The Restaurant staff was also very friendly and took very good care of us.

Rooms:-
Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8
The room offered to us was renovated, “smoke free” and large enough to accommodate 2 queen beds. Since we were a group of 3 adults and 2 kids, we were offered one extra cot in our room. We feel the room was small with an extra bed and we should have booked a suite for ourselves which has over 850-sq ft of gracious living with separate bedroom and living rooms, two bathrooms and upscale amenities.
The amenities in our room included a work desk with chair, Coffee maker, Flat screen TV and Ironing facilities. We loved free high speed Wi-Fi access. There is usually no fridge in the room, but the hotel was kind enough to give us one upon request.

F&B Facilities:-
Our ratings (Out of 10):-7
The Restaurant Chez Chine and Bar offers the finest authentic Chinese cuisine in Montreal. The seating is under the pagoda in the Chinese garden surrounded by the miniature pond, or in the private dining rooms. We did not get a chance to try the restaurant for meals except Buffet Breakfast which is also served in Restaurant Chez Chine. The breakfast buffet menu was basic and could be revamped as it is not normally included with the room cost for everyone.
The hotel has 16 meeting rooms, 10 with natural light and free high speed wireless internet.

The hotel is a short walk to Notre Dame Basillica and Old Montreal. We could also head down to the river for some great family entertainment and restaurants. The hotel is very centrally located between the old Montreal and downtown Montreal providing the best of both experiences.
There is so much to see in old Montreal including Notre-Dame Basilica and Place Jacques-Cartier, Old Port, La Ronde Six Flags Amusement Park, Mount-Royal Park, St. Joseph’s Shrine, Saint-Laurent Blvd, Olympic Park including Stadium, Planetarium, Biodome, Insectarium and world reknown Botanical Gardens, Museum of Fine Arts, Montreal Casino, Latin Quarters, Underground City and Palais Des Congress (Convention Center).
Also, shopping on St. Catherine’s Street and walking on the cobblestoned streets of Old Montreal leading to Place Jacques Cartier where local arts and crafts abound.

Hotel Review by Hozpitality:- Holiday Inn Ottawa East, Canada

After a very busy month at work, we decided to head on a trip to Montreal and Quebec. Since we were driving from Toronto and stopped over at Kingston to visit the land of Thousand Islands, we decided to take a break in Ottawa and visit the capital city of Canada. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Ottawa East who welcomed us with open arms, they made us feel that we were at home. Right from our check-in which was handled so well by Heather and Arnold at the reception, we loved every bit of our stay at this wonderful full service Holiday Inn hotel in Ottawa. When in Ottawa, Holiday Inn Ottawa East is certainly a must visit!

Location:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8

Holiday Inn Ottawa East is located just minutes from downtown Ottawa, Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal, Ottawa’s various award winning national museums, Byward Market and the Casino du Lac Leamy. Since the hotel is conveniently located off St. Laurent Boulevard at the Queensway Highway 417, it is a very easy access when visiting downtown Ottawa. So if you are looking for a comfortable hotel which is not very pricey and yet close to the Ottawa downtown, Holiday Inn Ottawa East is certainly the place to be in.

Service/Staff:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8

What we loved about the hotel most is the friendliness of the staff. They were happy in their work and it shows in their guest dealings. They were eager to help us and to make us comfortable at all times.

Right from check in which was handled so well by Heather and Arnold at the reception to our room service or the restaurant staff, everyone was very professional and showed true Canadian hospitality.

The reception staff took time to explain us about the area, places to visit and even printed maps and details for our references.

We had an opportunity to meet the General Manager Jean-Pierre Benjamin who took pride in his work and was even seen serving coffee to guests.

We also met Chef Reza the oldest working Chef at the hotel for over 30 years and now has a restaurant in the hotel named after him.

Rooms:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 9

Since we were 3 adults and 2 kids, we were offered a junior suite. The suite was newly renovated, “smoke free” designed with a taste and style to make us feel right at home.

Our one-Bedroom Suites featured a separate living room and bedroom with 2 queen beds. The upgraded amenities included, a cozy bathrobe, lounge chair, mini fridge and work desk with chair. We absolutely loved free high speed Wi-Fi access. Both rooms have individually controlled A/C thermostats.

There is usually no microwave in the room, but the hotel was kind enough to give us one upon request.

F&B Facilities:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):-8

We came to know that the only restaurant in the hotel got its name from Chef Reza, the oldest chef still working with the company. We met Chef Reza at work who has been working in the hotel for over 30 years. The initiative speaks very highly about the company and its vision.

The restaurant, Reza’s Kitchen offers a great tasting menu that caters to the varied tastes of its customers. From their delicious gourmet stuffed hamburgers to pastas, right through to our decadent assortment of desserts, the entire menu is a signature item.

The restaurant served Ala-Carte breakfast and gets very busy during breakfast which in turn causes the service to be a bit slow. Though the staff made every effort to serve as quickly as possible with a smile but a breakfast buffet would be a good idea to make things move faster in the restaurant.

The hotel also offers 8 meeting rooms in various sizes for business travelers and corporations.

Spa/Pool:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8

There is a smaller indoor pool in the hotel (which we did not have a chance to use). The pool looked clean with guests enjoying the facilities. There is a complimentary Fitness Center with universal machine, Treadmill Rowing Machine, free weights, bikes, TV and Floor mats.

Located with direct access to Highway 417, the hotel puts guest’s minutes from the Ray Chabot Grant Thornton Baseball Stadium, the St. Laurent Shopping Centre, Via Rail Station and Ottawa MacDonald-Cartier International Airport.

Restaurant Review of Yuan at Atlantis Dubai by Hozpitality

Chinese today and I must say, “WOW” to the entire experience here at the Atlantis the Palm in Dubai. Certainly one of the best Chinese restaurants in Dubai, Yuan brings together the fiery and diverse flavors of the Sichuan province, served in a distinctively modern style.

yuan

When it comes to food Atlantis offers huge choice with over 20 different food outlets from fast food right through to Michelin starred dining. At the top end, there are globally renowned restaurant names like Nobu and Ronda Locatelli and some seriously good specialty restaurants including the SeaFire Steakhouse, Breadstreet by Gordon Ramsay and Yuan (Chinese). You will pay top dollar but each restaurant offers a memorable culinary experience and beautifully designed contemporary venues. Most also have bars so, even if you are not eating there, they are worth a visit for a cocktail or two, simply to admire the location and rub shoulders with the ‘in’ crowd. There are also buffet style restaurants, Saffron and Kaleidoscope – their breakfast, lunch and themed dinner buffet displays have to be seen to be believed.

With its own entrance from The Avenue’s restaurant and retail zone, Yuan is one of the most impressively designed spaces I’ve walked into this year. It has glam written all over it, with intricate lighting features, lush upholstery and a glossy cocktail bar you’ll want to be seen at. But as we walked through the door we were immediately welcomed by the friendly staff Wendy, who lead us through the stylish space. The Assistant Manager Frank took very good care of us and made us feel great with his sense of humor and great service. Yuan is the first fine dining Chinese restaurant at Atlantis The Palm Hotel & Resort and its interior scheme displays the ethereal beauty of old China.

I was floored with the interiors. Apart from an Oriental inner courtyard, designed using Chinese elements of harmony and balance, there was the Principal House, reminiscent of dining halls built for Chinese nobility. Diners can be seated in an Oriental Inner Courtyard, designed using Chinese elements of harmony and balance or in the Principal House, where the scenes of nature and warm interiors are reminiscent of dining halls built for Chinese nobility. Alternatively, guests can choose to relax and escape by entertaining in the private dining room.

IMG_20160510_140712

The Dim sum is a particular highlight, with each delicate piece packed with imaginative flavours. They make the perfect starter to any of the wide ranging mains, which include dishes from almost every region of the vast Asian nation.
Service is notably good, with knowledgeable and hospitable staff providing well informed advice on the menu and guidance on food and drink pairings. Frank and his staff were very attentive and helpful. They were always available without hovering around the table and were smiling. Clearly they were all very well trained and took pride in the work. Frank made sure that we knew everything we were eating and what the dish contained. Some of us were pure vegetarians (not even egg) and it is never easy to find enough for Vegetarians in a high end Chinese restaurant but Yuan proved us wrong.

We started with the vegetarian Hot and Sour soup and I decided to order the Lobster soup with Chinese wild mushrooms followed by Crispy Eggplant, Veg Dumplings in Schezwan sauce and Spring Rolls all done to perfection with authentic Chinese flavors.

I decided to try the famous Wagyu beef and the beef was divine throughout and my favorite wagyu main course was cooked to perfection. The Yuzu Seabass curry, sweet and sour chicken and stir fried chicken was amazing and the vegetarians were served with Mapu Tofu, Sweet and Sour mushrooms with rice. The restaurant amazes its patrons with enticing dishes filled with startling combinations, and dynamic presentation.

IMG_7221

The bar and lounge at YUAN features innovative mocktails and cocktails, perfectly blending traditional Chinese ingredients, such as ginger root, sesame seeds and fresh fruit with top shelf spirits.

They serve beautiful desserts too such as the mango sago with pomelo we had there which was utterly divine! The Corn caramel with peanuts, crumble and coconut sorbet was certainly very different.

“This area is enriched by a dramatic skylight embellished with Chinese screens and a hanging, enchanting art piece tailor made by famous Japanese designer Hirotoshi Sawada.” The hanging art installation is eye-catching and evokes free-flowing movement.

IMG_20160510_145412

For this level of service and cooking, the final bill of around AED 400/- to 500/- per person (including drinks) in a high-end eatery in a tourist oriented luxury resort in Dubai is justifiable. It may not be the cheapest restaurant in the city, but you’ll be hard pressed to find better Chinese food with a Royal treatment anywhere else in the city.

Our Verdict:-

If Yaun is good enough for Kim Kardashian to dine in then it’s certainly very good for us, We were treated like kings, spoiled and looked after as for us, We will certainly return!

Restaurant Review by Hozpitality:- Toshi at Grand Millennium Dubai

And this time we decided to visit the Pan Asian restaurant, Toshi at Grand Millennium Dubai and our experience was a very interesting one.

We met the restaurant manager Petra and we were seated at a small and cozy table by the window, with a grand view of Sheikh Zayed Road. Petra introduced us to their generous daily eat and drink, all-in theme nights and we decided to go in for the 7 Asian theme night buffet which looked awesome.

IMG_20160506_195933

Toshi is for sure one of the classiest joints in Tecom with dim but decent lighting, soft music and a calm fountain that helps to create a Zen-like atmosphere. A great experience right from entering the lavish hotel lobby to nice interiors and a sophisticated setting on the 18th floor of the Jumeirah sprawl, Toshi is one place to be in while in Dubai. We felt that the restaurant is more suited to a business meeting and sophisticated formal dinner.

The variety was colossal, Toshi had specialty dishes from China, Singapore, Myanmar, Indonesian, Japanese, Vietnam & Thailand including Cold & Hot Appetizers, Salads, Soup, Noodle & Hot Dishes. It was an impressive layout of sushi and sashimi. The chefs prepare sushi in a viewable area for diners’ entertainment and the highly knowledgeable staff can offer recommendations.

I made my selection from the assortment of raw vegetables, meat, squids, salmon, chicken laid out in front of me and watched in hunger-driven awe as the chef cooked up my soup. The Tom Yam he made for me was excellent – very spicy and fantastically flavored, delicious enough to have us going back for more.

I normally can’t stand buffets but this one looked good and well spread out. The design is beautiful and the buffet is spread out on a long line going through many rooms. The buffet was divided into sushi/sashimi/maki, salads including crab salad, crispy fish salad, squid salad and so on, tempura/grills, soups/crackers etc. Mains came off a menu of selected dishes including Nasi Goreng, sweet & sour fish, wok fried chicken, beef rendang, shrimps and other vegetables. The sushi was delicious. There are tempuras and fried goodness as well. An exhaustive list of food and you can go on eating to your heart’s desire.

And obviously, don’t forget the desserts. No matter how full you might be, everyone must try the Pisang Goreng – deep-fried banana and the palm seeds in syrup. The innovative ice cream is strangely delicious and fresh and the deep fried banana tastes heavenly. There is a variety of mousses, cakes, custard and other desert items.

Verdict
Toshi’s interior looks amazing and comes with spectacular panoramic views across the city skyline. So if you’re looking for a relaxing yet sophisticated way to spend your evenings, Toshi is the place to be.

The hotel has so much to offer the kids and families. We could enjoy a light-hearted game of mini-golf. We tried something new at Hatta’s Target Archery Range and the Shooting range.

Kids could be treated to a host of fun-filled activities and games such as face painting, crayon drawing, sand painting, limbo, bouncy castle, DVDs, air hockey and more.

Our kids loved the park created with a lot of fun activities. We loved the deer, peacock, various birds and goats. We could also feed the fish just by the main entrance. All the animals are well looked after.

Phi is the refreshingly local gourmet bistro & bar where we could start the day with a Starbucks coffee or end it with a signature martini. The breakfast was not included in the room price. The chef has designed a menu around fresh local ingredients with daily specials, so there’s always something new to try for breakfast, lunch and dinner
